Benchmark your accounting tools and techniques

July 2009

Take part in our major new series of surveys.

What is best practice for management accounting? What are the best tools and techniques?

To find out, CIMA plans to undertake a series of major surveys on management accounting practice.

We want to track what tools are being used for best practice and how popular they are.

Complete our survey

As a first step we want to understand the lifecycle of the tools and techniques management accountants use. So CIMA’s Innovation and Development department is inviting management accountants to take part in this survey.

It asks which tools and techniques you have used, use now and would consider using in the future in areas like costing, budgeting, pricing, investment appraisal, strategic analysis, and performance measurement.

The results will be published later this year and, if enough people complete the survey, respondents will be able to benchmark their practices against those of a similar size, sector, or geographical location.

At a minimum, participants will be able to compare their responses to the global results, so if you participate please remember to print off your responses before you exit the survey.

Once we have analysed the survey data, we hope to interview some respondents to gain further insights and ultimately identify gaps where new or better tools are still needed, to the benefit of all our members and their organisations.

Please complete the survey before 15 July 2009.
