Our certificate in business accounting is examined by computer based assessment.
1. Find your assessment centre
Search for your nearest Pearson VUE centre or any other CIMA preferred CBA centres.
2. Arrange to sit with a centre. You DO NOT register for Certificate level exam through CIMA.
You can sit assessments at any time of the year. Each centre decides when they offer assessments. Speak directly to your CIMA preferred CBA centre to arrange a date and time or book an assessment at a Pearson VUE centre.
3. Pay assessment fees to the centre
You pay the assessment fee to the centre NOT to CIMA. CBA assessment centres cannot accept payment (for example, bank draft or cheque) addressed to CIMA.
Fees must be paid at the time of booking your assessment. See the latest fees. Centres may charge additional administration fees.
You may reschedule or cancel your assessment up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. It is not possible to cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours to go. If you then do not attend the assessment, you will not receive a refund of the assessment fee.
Taking the assessment
Before the assessment, you will be given a short tutorial to complete which will allow you to practise submitting answers to the various question types you might see. You will also be shown how to navigate the test and access the calculator and any maths tables that are available to you onscreen during the assessment.
Please note that you can not take your own calculator into the assessment.
Read these two important documents before your assessment:
Receive results and feedback when you finish
You will see your results and indicative feedback as soon as your assessment has finished. (It will take 48 hours for your results to show in your MY CIMA account).
If you are successful, your exam status will automatically be updated at CIMA. .
If you are unsuccessful, the feedback will show where you should focus your studies in the syllabus. You can arrange your resit when you are ready.
Progressing to the professional qualification
Unless you received exemptions, you must pass all five certificate computer based assessments before sitting any professional level papers.
You must pass all certificate papers by 12 March to be eligible to sit in May, and by 12 September to sit in November.
CIMA welcomes entries from students with disabilities or special requirements and is able to provide additional help or concessions as appropriate to individual needs. If you have a special requirement, you should notify CIMA prior to booking your assessment, by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, including all relevant documentation to support your request.
You must contact CIMA a minimum of seven working days prior to the date you intend to sit, and await confirmation of the special arrangements that have been made for you, before making any exam booking. Concessions may include extra time, changes to the font size and/or colour and screen resolution.
Once you have received confirmation of your special arrangements from CIMA, you should then book your assessment by telephone.
