Advances in information technology have been noted as a key force in changing management accounting. Managers and boards continuously see advances in technology offering potential business advantages, but also raising issues and risks. This report focuses in particular on cloud computing.
The effect of cloud computing on management accounting is presently not widely researched. Thus, this study was set out in an exploratory fashion to gain some initial insights on how cloud computing affects management accounting and decision making.
Cloud adoption is almost inevitable for SMEs – only larger firms can continue to incur costs of hosting and maintaining their own information systems.
