Over 200 people gathered at the University of Strathclyde to hear the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) President address local business professionals and celebrate the growing success of CIMA in Scotland.
At the CIMA Scotland Annual Dinner, held in the Barony Hall, University of Strathclyde last night, Scotsman Gordon Grant, CIMA President, welcomed guests to the event representing a range of local companies including Diageo, Energywatch, Hanover Housing Association, Royal Bank of Scotland and Strathclyde Business School.
Gordon is well known to many Scottish CIMA students and members, having been involved in local branch and area affairs for more than 20 years and is the youngest CIMA President for 50 years.
Speaking after the dinner, Gordon Grant said:
'CIMA has a strong presence in Scotland that is not only down to the growing membership numbers but to the relationships built between CIMA and the local business community over the years. Currently we have over 5,000 members and students in Scotland and of these 629 are working as CEOs, FDs or in financial management roles. This is a great testament to the increasing demand for qualified CIMA management accountants.
'To attend this evening as the 74th institute President, the 10th from Scotland, is a truly great honour for me.'
The speakers for the evening also included Dean Park from Radio Clyde and Allyson Stewart-Allen, an international marketing and brand conference speaker.
