The November 2006 results mark the fourth diet of exams of CIMA's new syllabus, and again recorded a variety of performances from students at both the Managerial and Strategic levels and the Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting, TOPCIMA.
On the prize-winner front, we have some excellent student performances spread throughout the world. Prize winners and commendations in individual papers include students from the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, China, South Africa, and Pakistan, working for companies as diverse as AstraZeneca, Marconi, Allied Bakeries, ICI, Cadbury, BSkyB and Rolls Royce. It is particularly encouraging to note the very wide range of entry routes followed by the prize-winners prior to studying for their exams, showing that the CIMA qualification is achievable for those who are dedicated and committed in their studies.
Overall, pass rates were mixed, but with notable improvements in papers 2 and 9 over previous diets.
CIMA continues to work to improve support for students in examinations through its website www.cimapublishing.com, Financial Management magazine, and new product developments e.g. the MindPlanning CDs for the Strategic level, which are being extended for the May 2007 diet, to all Managerial level papers.
