CIMA appoints Director of Employer and Strategic Development

12 January 2007

CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) has appointed Rick Sturge to a newly created post of Director of Employer and Strategic Development within the senior management team. The appointment is part of a restructuring of the organisation to increase our focus on global employer relations and the needs of customers internationally.

CIMA is the only international body with a sole focus on business and the fastest growing chartered accountancy body in membership terms in the UK. It represents over 158,000 members and students worldwide.

Sturge joins CIMA from Accenture, where he was a Business Development Director within the firm's Business Process Outsourcing group. He will be responsible for CIMA's employer development framework and student recruitment throughout the UK and internationally.

CIMA has done much over the last few years to build a strong infrastructure to deliver its services to customers more effectively, and has developed its qualification framework to better serve the needs of employers.

Charles Tilley, Chief Executive of CIMA said, 'I believe this restructuring of the organisation will enable us to deliver the next stage of CIMA's development in what is an increasingly competitive global environment. This environment needs more focus on customer relationships globally, as well as clarity of purpose across the organisation. Rick Sturge's appointment will help facilitate this.

This revised structure provides us with an excellent platform to allow all of us to take CIMA forward on the next stage of our exciting journey ' to make CIMA the first choice for employers.'
