Speaking at the ceremony, Robert Jelly said:

'This is a great honour. I have been very fortunate to have had jobs which have enabled me to share my passion for education and training. This achievement would not have been possible but for the opportunities and support given to me.'

Head of Kingston's School of Accounting and Finance, Dr Stuart Archbold, said the University was delighted to recognise the personal contribution that Robert Jelly had made to education in the fields of accounting, business and management. 'His contribution is entirely consistent with our mission to provide high quality, applied education that is relevant to the needs of business and society,' Dr Archbold said. 'Through his role at CIMA, Robert has played an active and important role in widening participation in the professions, which is also central to the University's mission. His passionate and unflagging efforts to advance the cause of professional education and training fully deserve the recognition that this honorary doctorate confers.'
