CIMA today announced that Bradley Emerson had been appointed as Chief Executive of CIMA Sri Lanka division. Bradley, who has more than thirty years' experience in finance and banking, both in Sri Lanka and overseas, takes up the post on 3 May 2007.

He joins CIMA from PABC Bank, where he was Deputy CEO and was the driving force behind the transformation of the bank's image. At the time he joined PABC, it was undergoing a period of slow growth and negative market perception. It is widely believed by analysts and the banking community that after Bradley joined PABC, there was greater visibility and growth, achieved through back-to-back branch openings and restructuring both business processes and the management team. During his tenure, the bank went through a rebranding process, with a new PABC logo, and the 'New face of banking' campaign, which won the bank a silver award from SLIM in 2004 as 'Turnaround Brand'.

Prior to joining PABC Bank, Bradley worked for Commercial Bank, where he led the launch of the bank's debit and credit card products. He also worked for Nations Trust, where as Head of Retail Banking operations was directly involved in the takeover of the AMEX Colombo branch and the Standard Chartered Bank branch in Kandy.

Bradley is an old boy of St Benedict's College, Kotahena. He holds an MBA from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and is a Fellow of the Institute Bankers of Sri Lanka.

Commenting on his appointment, Kathy Grimshaw, CIMA's Director of International Development, said:

'CIMA Sri Lanka division's overriding objective is to grow its membership and, in an increasingly competitive market, it is essential that the division has a clear strategic focus and clarity of purpose. With his proven track record in driving success in financial organisations we are confident that Bradley's appointment will facilitate this.'

Echoing Ms Grimshaw's comments, Shanthikumar Sadanandan, President of CIMA Sri Lanka division, said:

'We are delighted to welcome Bradley to CIMA Sri Lanka division. This is a high-profile role requiring a high-calibre professional with a broad range of skills and experience, and we have no doubt that we have found the right man for the job.'

Speaking about his appointment, Bradley said:

'I am looking forward to joining a multinational organisation that supports putting values into action and that has such a strong focus on governance and ethics. CIMA produces professionals who are well equipped to succeed in the ruthlessly competitive global market, and this position offers a great opportunity for me to be part of that noble process.'
