With balanced scorecards and quality management systems increasingly being used to structure improvements in healthcare performance, excellence models have become a topical issue in the NHS. Which is why the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is gathering some of the UK's experts to shed light on how these tools can genuinely help to improve the management of health and social care delivery, at a seminar in York on 3 November.
Heading an eminent list of speakers at the CIMA seminar, titled 'Managing health and social care performance using excellence models', keynote addresses will being delivered by Mike Perides, chair of the European Health Sector Group within the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and the brains behind the Excellence Model for improving health and social care performance, and Jeremy Martin, head of performance and contracts at the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust.
Also sharing their expertise will be:
' Nick Jones, deputy head of strategy at the Healthcare Commission
' Allan Mackay, author of the definitive book on the Balanced Scorecard
' Phil Barden, CEO, Centre for Performance and Innovation
' John Smith, director quality Scotland for The British Quality Foundation
' Bob Heavisides, director of facilities and risk management at Barnet, Enfield and Haringey MH Trust, and
' Sue Jackson, a senior manager at North Kirklees PCT and author of the definitive guide to the EFQM for Healthcare Professionals
