23 September 2005

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) today announces that the winners of the CIMA NHS Student Excellence Awards 2005 are Jonathan Dove from Canterbury and Gavin D'Northwood from County Durham.

Jonathan receives the Excellence Award for Managerial Level, gaining the highest mark in his Financial Accounting and Tax Principles paper.

Gavin receives the Excellence Award for Strategic Level, gaining the highest mark in his Management Accounting Risk and Control Strategy paper.

Robert Jelly, CIMA Director of Education, said:

'CIMA warmly congratulates Gavin and Jonathan on their achievement and wish them every success as they continue their studies. We are consistently impressed with the high level of commitment demonstrated by the NHS in training CIMA students and employing fully qualified Chartered Management Accountants. I'm confident that in time, Jonathan and Gavin will join their ranks and continue to help drive forward the finance functions within the NHS.'

The bi-annual awards are sponsored by the Financial Training Company and each winner will receive an iPod at a presentation ceremony in November. Members of the NHS Financial Staff Development Board and CIMA Chief Executive, Charles Tilley, will make the presentation.
