CIMA, as one of the world's largest professional accounting bodies focused solely on the training of accountants in business both in the private and public sectors, has this week published the November 2004 professional chartered management accountant examination results. In excess of 34,000 students sat the November examinations in over 150 examination centres worldwide illustrating CIMA's recognition as a leading global brand and the most relevant qualification for finance and financial analyst staff. According to recent surveys, the CIMA qualification continues to be viewed by employers as the 'gold standard' and first choice for the training of professional accountants in business.
Emily Tyler from Hyde in Cheshire, who is currently employed by AstraZeneca, is placed first in the world in the final level professional examinations. Emily has been a consistently high scoring candidate in all the papers she has sat with CIMA, including three paper prizes. In addition, the 'best in the world' prizewinner list includes four students from Sri Lanka.
Robert Jelly, Director of Education at CIMA, commenting on the results said, "Overall, the November results reflect consistent performance in several papers, and pleasing results in the Financial Accounting International Standards paper. This is significant, pending changes to the syllabus, where International Standards only will be examined."
"However, in some other subject areas there is still a clear need to improve. Students who did not succeed need to carefully review their future study strategies, by understanding what the new 2005 qualification will be requiring of them. These students need to consider one of a number of 'proven success strategies'. Options include attending face to face tuition classes at a CIMA Quality Tuition Partner, purchasing the Official CIMA Study Systems written by CIMA Examiners, seeking advice and help from their employers or taking part in a local study group where appropriate. Additionally students can make use of the learning resources at www.cimaglobal.com/professionalqualifications."
