Why CIMA?
CIMA is Siemens’ preferred accounting qualification.
It is recognised globally and seems to be the qualification of choice for most employers. With its emphasis on strategic business skills, I believe CIMA will provide me with the relevant knowledge and experience I need to progress within the business.
CIMA studies are very flexible. I chose to take the AAT route into CIMA, but even students with degrees are advised to follow up their degree with CIMA if they are going to pursue a career in management accounting.

Tell us a bit about your job
I provide support to the finance and commercial manager of the Siemens IA SP Business area. This involves month end reporting, variance analysis, cost transfers, management of workflow and ensuring the business is compliant in all areas as well as various other tasks.
I have had the opportunity to be part of a process improvement team which has provided me with a wider understanding of Siemens and the chance to network with other employees across the business.
What attracted you to management accountancy?
I wanted an interesting, varied role that offers exposure to all areas of the business within a respected profession that is always in demand.
How do you see CIMA contributing to your future career progression?
CIMA is a big commitment but is well worth it as it is something that recruiters actively look for. I will be proud to be a fully qualified member of CIMA and am looking forward to the many exciting opportunities which it will open up to enable me to progress in my career.
