Sue Chellew: Net-a-Porter

Before studying for the AAT qualification, Sue worked as an administrative assistant, whilst studying for a BTEC in Business and Finance.  Sue loves fashion and working at NET-A-PORTER.com allows her to indulge her passion.

What is the most interesting aspect of your job?
The daily challenges I face working in a growing company and the constant need to evolve our processes to keep up with the demand to meet our deadlines. I really enjoy managing a team and I’m lucky to work for a great company where there are opportunities to grow.

What’s the most recent project you have worked on?
The launch of a new business. This required a system upgrade and a huge increase in workload, which meant we needed to look at our current processes and become more efficient.

How has the CIMA qualification helped progress your career?
Studying for CIMA has helped me to get to my current level. It helped me secure a working visa in America and I could continue with my final exams during my time in New York through distance learning.

It has given me a sound background for making good decisions and confidence that I can manage my team and help them to further their careers.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of studying the CIMA qualification?
Go for it, but be prepared to work hard.  You get a real sense of achievement when you reach the end and become a member of CIMA. It makes all those hours studying worthwhile.
